Man Pleads Not Guilty in Shooting
From a Times Staff Writer
The Lake Elsinore man charged with assault with a deadly weapon for allegedly shooting a U.S. soldier home on leave from Iraq pleaded not guilty Tuesday to three felony counts.
In Riverside County Superior Court, Aubrey Weldon also denied the felony allegations of using a firearm and inflicting great bodily injury.
Weldon, 34, is charged with shooting Army Spc. Daniel Alvarado Jr., 25, in the face Thursday. Weldon was apparently angered by a group of girls, supervised by Alvarado, who were toilet-papering homes, deputies said.
Alvarado remained in stable condition.
