Connecticut freshman guard A.J. Price will sit out the rest of the season because of a blood vessel abnormality in his brain, the school said Thursday.

Price had an intracranial hemorrhage in October and spent several days in critical condition at Hartford Hospital. He has been cleared to return to classes Jan. 18, but his doctor said a vascular abnormality known as arteriovenous malformation would keep him out of practice and games for several months.

A top national recruit, Price led Amityville (N.Y.) to two state championships and averaged 28.5 points last season.
