Praise for writer’s evocative articles

I wanted to let you know how much I enjoy reading travel articles by James Dannenberg. The first article by him that I read, “Nostalgia Leads to the Woods” [July 4], about Wisconsin, was last summer when my mom and I were visiting my sister in San Diego.
My grandparents also had a cabin up north in Wisconsin, where we would spend several weeks each summer. Dannenberg really captured the essence of that place.
My sister recently sent me another Dannenberg article, “An Eerie Journey to Poland That Continues to Haunt” [Dec. 5]. Although I have never been to Auschwitz, I could really feel what he experienced on that trip.
That’s what makes a good travel writer -- making you feel what it was like to be in a certain place without ever having to go there yourself.
I look forward to more articles by Dannenberg.
