Jury Seated in Former Cop’s Perjury Trial
From Times Wire Reports
A jury of 11 whites and one Latino was seated in Lubbock in the perjury trial of a former police officer whose discredited drug arrests put dozens of people from Tulia -- most of them black -- in prison.
The trial of Tom Coleman centers on whether he lied about his arrest record during hearings for some of the defendants in 2003. Opening statements are expected to begin today.
Coleman used no audio or video surveillance to record drug buys he said he made while working as an undercover agent.
