From Times Wire Reports

A federal jury began deliberations in Manhattan in the case against attorney Lynne F. Stewart, charged with helping her jailed client, Sheik Omar Abdel-Rahman, urge his militant followers to renew violence in Egypt.

At issue is whether this is an isolated case of an activist lawyer accused of intentionally breaking the law to further her client’s agenda or if the charges have broader implications for all criminal defense attorneys. Stewart, 65, has denied wrongdoing and maintains she was merely doing her job representing her client.
