Fossils May Be Those of Human Predecessors
From Times Staff and Wire Reports
Paleontologists working in Ethiopia have discovered the remains of at least nine primitive human ancestors up to 4.5 million years old.
The specimens are Ardipithecus ramidus, a transitional creature with significant ape characteristics. The fossils are mostly teeth and jaw fragments, with some hand and foot bones, the team reported this week in the journal Nature.
