Premier, Sinn Fein Spar Over Belfast Bank Heist

Irish Prime Minister Bertie Ahern and the leader of Sinn Fein, the party linked to the Irish Republican Army, argued face to face about the IRA’s alleged robbery of a Belfast bank.
Ahern and Sinn Fein leader Gerry Adams met in Dublin for the first time since a hostage-taking gang stole $50 million from Northern Bank on Dec. 20. Ahern didn’t comment after the meeting, but Adams said Ahern could not back up accusations that Sinn Fein knew about the robbery in advance.
