A suspected Tanzanian Al Qaeda operative arrested in Pakistan in July for his alleged role in two 1998 U.S. Embassy bombings in East Africa has been handed over to American officials and flown out of the country, security officials said.

Ahmed Khalfan Ghailani was moved months ago, but the officials said they didn’t know where he was taken. Ghailani had been indicted in New York in the bombings in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, and Nairobi, Kenya. Twelve Americans were among at least 219 people killed.
