Phoenix Residents Told to Boil Water to Be Safe

From Times Wire Reports

Filtration problems at a Phoenix water treatment plant prompted city officials to warn 1.5 million customers to boil drinking water as a precaution until noon today and to take conservation measures.

Mayor Phil Gordon said testing throughout the day showed the water was safe. He said the warning was only a precaution until final test results became available by midday today.

Muddy water caused by recent storms was flowing into one of the city’s two operating water treatment plants, increasing the sediment in the water, which in turn was slowing filtration and output levels at that plant.
