Johnny CARSON’S greatest quality was his humility. He always made sure that the person sitting in the guest chair was the center of attention.

He never talked down to a guest or interrupted a guest in mid-sentence, something current hosts can’t do because their egos tell them it’s all about “me-me-me.” For example, anthropologist Ashley Montagu and astronomer Carl Sagan were regular guests who found a popular audience for their esoteric work because Johnny was genuinely intrigued with what they had to say.
