Back in action: Neil Young will mark his return to live performing with an appearance at Canada’s Live 8 concert Saturday, three months after he was treated for a brain aneurysm.

Staying on: Seiji Ozawa, 69, has renewed his contract as music director of the Vienna State Opera and will stay in the position through the 2009-10 season.

Casting: Jeremy Sisto will head the cast in “Dead End,” the first Center Theatre Group show to be produced by the group’s new artistic director, Michael Ritchie. Also in the cast of the Sidney Kingsley play, set to open at the Ahmanson on Sept. 7, are Tom Everett Scott, Ricky Ullman, Joyce Van Patten, Sarah Hudnut, Kathryn Hahn and Pamela Gray.
