GM, UAW Deny Pact to Cut Health Benefits

General Motors Corp. and the United Auto Workers said there was no imminent agreement to cut healthcare benefits, despite suggestions that such a deal would be reached this week.

GM threatened in a June 9 meeting to cut healthcare benefits if the union didn’t agree to concessions. Shares of GM rose 8.5% the next day. The parties are continuing talks.
