Volkswagen is recalling 39,583 Jetta sedans in the U.S. because of the possibility of a fuel leak that could trigger a fire, U.S. safety regulators said.

The vehicles involved in the recall are from the 2005 model year, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said.

Separately, NHTSA said Ford Motor Co. was recalling 10,061 Expedition and Navigator sport utility vehicles from the 2006 model year because tires on the driver’s side might be damaged, which could lead to a tread separation and crash.
