Shot to Head Killed Riverside Woman
A Riverside woman killed during a police shootout in Colorado died from a gunshot wound to the head, coroner’s officials said Tuesday.
Still under investigation is whether the fatal shot was fired by police or by the victim.
Deborah Sue Miller Vovos, 39, was found dead in her car following the July 3 shootout at a gas station in Lochbuie, about 30 miles northeast of Denver.
She and her husband -- 22-year-old Nicholas James Vovos, who was arrested -- were wanted for questioning in the disappearance of their former landlord, Carolyn Dunn Avdeef of Lake Forest.
Avdeef, 62, has been missing since June 15.
