Kelly’s ‘Reloaded,’ on the move

R. Kelly’s “TP.3 Reloaded” entered the national album chart at No. 1 on Wednesday with impressive opening week sales of 491,000 copies, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

The album, which includes all five chapters of the R&B-pop; star’s “Trapped in the Closet” saga, more than doubled the sales of the week’s runner-up collection, Missy Elliott’s “The Cookbook.” That CD sold 176,000 copies in its first week. The only other new release to make the Top 40 chart was rapper Webbie’s “Savage Life,” which placed No. 8 with sales of 68,000 copies.

Last week’s No. 1 album, George Strait’s “Somewhere Down in Texas” fell from No. 1 to No. 6 after selling 91,000 copies in its second week in stores.

To make room for the newcomers, these artists dropped out of the Top 10: Toby Keith (No. 10 to No. 13), Kelly Clarkson (No. 8 to No. 11) and Cassidy (No. 5 to No. 22).
