Times change
What a difference a day makes. It seems like it was yesterday when I rushed to a window at Cape Canaveral, Fla., as someone shouted, “A rocket’s going up!” The few thousand employees at the fledgling space center saw a rocket soar about a mile and then abort in midair. Tuesday, the shuttle’s takeoff at Kennedy Space Center was anxiously watched by the entire planet. Even by our own astronauts floating mile-high in space. What a difference half a century makes.
