The nomination of Rep. Christopher Cox (R-Newport Beach) as Securities and Exchange Commission chairman was approved by a Senate committee and will go to the full Senate for a vote.
The Senate Banking Committee also voted to approve two Democratic SEC nominees -- incumbent Commissioner Roel C. Campos and Annette Nazareth, director of the SEC’s division of market regulation.
Cox would take over from William H. Donaldson, who stepped down as chairman June 30 after more than two years on the job.
