From Times Wire Reports

Senate Republicans, responding to Democratic objections, agreed to delay action on a bill limiting the ability of death row inmates to extend appeals in federal courts.

The Streamlined Procedures Act would restrict the ability of prisoners facing a death sentence to have their cases reviewed in what are known as habeas corpus appeals. It also would place strict limits on the length of time the courts could spend on each case.

Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) said the Senate was moving much too quickly on the bill.
