‘Star Wars’ star reaches for Sky

While moviegoers are flocking by the millions to see him brandishing a light saber as Obi-Wan Kenobi in “Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith,” Ewan McGregor is singing and dancing in a London revival of the classic Broadway musical “Guys and Dolls.”

In his first stage musical, McGregor heads the cast as Sky Masterson, the gambling playboy who wins the heart of a missionary. It opened this week, and though critics thought his singing came up a bit short, they heaped praise on the production.

“ ‘Guys and Dolls’ is such a lifter ... that by the end of the show it wouldn’t have mattered if Mr. McGregor’s part had been sung by Darth Vader or R2-D2,” wrote Quentin Letts in the Daily Mail. “The audience would still have been on their feet, cheering Frank Loesser’s lyrics and score.”
