A woman convicted of murdering her husband to collect more than $1 million in life insurance was sentenced Friday to life in prison without parole.

San Fernando Superior Court Judge Ronald S. Coen had imposed the same sentence Thursday on 35-year-old Jennifer Fletcher’s new husband, Matthew Fletcher, 46.

The two were convicted of first-degree murder, conspiracy and insurance fraud in the March 18, 1998, shooting death in Northridge of Joel Shanbrom, a police officer with the Los Angeles Unified School District.
