1955 Lynching Victim Is Reburied After Autopsy
Relatives reburied Emmett Till, the black teenager lynched in Mississippi 50 years ago, after an autopsy that might yield clues to his unsolved slaying, which helped spark the U.S. civil rights movement.
The burial took place at the Burr Oak Cemetery in Alsip, Ill., about 25 miles from Chicago, a spokesman for the cemetery said.
The FBI exhumed Till’s body Wednesday in a bid to shed light on the case.
Autopsy results were sent from the Cook County Medical Examiner in Illinois to prosecutors in Greenville, Miss., where charges could be brought.
