Governor Signs Limits on Abortion; 350 Protest

From Times Wire Reports

About 350 people demonstrated outside a Fort Worth church school gymnasium where Gov. Rick Perry signed a bill that required minors to get written parental consent for abortions and imposed limits on late-term procedures.

Perry also signed a resolution to amend the state Constitution by banning same-sex marriages. But that signature was only ceremonial; voters must approve the proposed ban.

About 1,000 people gathered at the Calvary Christian Academy for the 90-minute ceremony, which was filled with religious references. Outside, protesters carried signs to oppose the ban on gay marriage, and the use of church property for a bill signing.
