From Times Wire Reports

A City Council committee voted Tuesday to hold a Nov. 8 primary election to replace Councilmen Antonio Villaraigosa and Martin Ludlow, with a runoff election, if needed, in January.

Villaraigosa becomes mayor July 1, and Ludlow is expected to resign soon to accept a job as executive director of the Los Angeles County Federation of Labor. The primary will be held the same day as the statewide election called Monday by Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger.

The full council could vote Friday on the date.
