On Paris’ reinterpreted Mexican fare

Share

REGARDING “When in France, Don’t Eat the Fajitas” [Traveler’s Journal, June 5]: Sure, the Mexican food there is terrible, but that’s the fun of traveling. I take particular delight not only in seeing other cultures but seeing how other cultures interpret (and sometimes mangle) ours. I’ve seen the “Indiana” restaurant Robin Rauzi mentions. It features an Indian on the logo, which I took to be the connection to Mexican food: Mexican = Indian = Indiana! The best part about sampling the ghastly Parisian Mexican food is watching the locals munch their baguettes to begin the meal.

The result of great travel is always introspection.
