San Bernardino County’s budget for next year includes $333 million in services for public health and safety. The money, approved Tuesday by the Board of Supervisors, is part of the county’s $3-billion budget for fiscal year 2005-06.
The budget includes $4.7 million for the Sheriff’s Department’s crackdown on gangs, $52 million for 25 new deputies, and $13 million for a new jail in Adelanto.
The $44 million approved for the county fire agency includes $29 million to clear trees killed by last year’s bark beetle infestation and forest fires. The clearing aims to help prevent future blazes.
