Willis Gets to 12 Wins in 8-0 Marlin Victory

Dontrelle Willis pitched a five-hitter to become the National League’s first 12-game winner, leading the Florida Marlins over the Atlanta Braves, 8-0, on Thursday night in Atlanta. Miguel Cabrera hit two homers and drove in six runs.

Willis (12-2) walked one and struck out seven in his third shutout of the season and fifth of his career. It was his eighth career complete game and fourth this season.

Arizona 7, San Francisco 2 -- Troy Glaus homered, and Brandon Webb (8-3) needed only 78 pitches in seven innings for his first win in nearly three weeks to lead the Diamondbacks at San Francisco.

New York 4, Philadelphia 3 -- Kazuhisa Ishii gave up three runs and six hits in 6 2/3 innings for his second win in nine starts, and Jose Reyes had three hits and stole three bases for the visiting Mets.

Milwaukee 8, Chicago 7 -- Bill Hall hit a tiebreaking, two-run homer off Mike Remlinger (0-2) with two out in the eighth for the Brewers, who overcame a 6-4 deficit and two Derrek Lee homers to gain a split of the four-game series at Milwaukee.

Pittsburgh 11, St. Louis 7 -- Matt Morris lost for the first time this season, getting knocked out in the fourth inning in St. Louis as the Pirates ended their 12-game losing streak against the Cardinals.

Randy Wolf will have season-ending elbow surgery that could sideline the Philadelphia Phillie left-hander until next July.

Outfielder Alex Sanchez was claimed off waivers by the Giants from the Tampa Bay Devil Rays.
