Pakistani security forces may have come close to capturing Osama bin Laden eight to 10 months ago, but the terrorist leader eluded arrest and his trail has gone cold, Pakistan’s president said.

“There was a time when the dragnet had closed and we thought we knew roughly the area where he possibly could be,” President Pervez Musharraf said in an interview with the BBC. He did not specify where the operation had taken place.

“That was, I think, some time back ... maybe about eight to 10 months back,” he said.
