* DaimlerChrysler said a hydrogen-powered car using fuel-cell technology will be on sale in 2012.

* Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia Inc. said an independent expert determined that Stewart was entitled to receive $3.7 million for certain expenses related to her legal defense. The company said the reimbursement probably would be covered by insurance.

* Former Adelphia Communications Corp. Vice President Michael Rigas, whose securities fraud case ended with a deadlocked jury in July, will face a new trial Oct. 24.

* EMI Group said it named Roger Ames as a senior advisor, reuniting the former Warner Music chief executive with his old boss, Alain Levy, now chairman of EMI’s recorded music division. The appointment of Ames -- who tried to merge Warner Music with EMI during his tenure at Warner Music -- follows closely on the heels of Warner’s filing for an initial public offering, which has sparked speculation that the two companies could make another go at a merger.

* The European Union approved U.S. security software company Symantec Corp.’s $13.5-billion acquisition of Veritas Software Corp., a U.S. storage solutions provider.
