Producer is more than just ‘an agent’

Share

As Paul Haggis’ producing partner on the film “Crash,” I take offense at having my role being reduced to that of “an agent” who got the script to Bob Yari, as stated in Patrick Goldstein’s article [“Volatile Stories Make Him Hollywood’s Hot Writer,” March 11]. Not only was I a producer on the film, it was at my suggestion that Paul and Bobby Moresco turned the script into a feature.

Indeed, I am the one who got the script to Yari. I was also on set doing what I do: produce movies -- 25 films over a nine-year career, “Gods and Monsters” among them.
