2002 Brander Sauvignon Blanc au Naturel

Share

This beautiful Sauvignon Blanc with a lovely aroma of lime and mint is from the Santa Ynez Valley’s Brander estate, which is something of a specialist in the grape. Brander’s regular Sauvignon Blanc is always a good bet, but the “au Naturel” cuvee is outstanding for its balance and grace. Because it sees no oak, the pure taste of the grape, its lively acidity and minerality, shines through. Great with shellfish and grilled fish. Right now, I’d pour it with roasted or steamed asparagus with a poached egg on top or a risotto of spring peas. If you miss the 2002, don’t worry; the 2003 should be on the shelves soon.
