Lohan’s dad faces new charge
Michael Lohan, father of singer-actress Lindsay Lohan, will face felony charges for allegedly driving drunk into a telephone pole on Long Island last month, escaping just before the car went up in flames.
Lohan, 44, was originally charged with misdemeanor drunken driving charges. But those charges will be upgraded to felony aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle because he was driving with a suspended license, said Nassau County (N.Y.) Assistant Dist. Atty. Joy Watson. His blood alcohol level was 0.14% on the night of the arrest, Watson said. The legal limit is 0.08%.
The new charge could carry a sentence of 1 1/3 to four years in prison, Watson said.
Attorney Rory Calhoun, who recently took over Lohan’s case, said he did not know yet how Lohan would plead to the new charge.
