Senate Favors Measure on Stem Cell Research

From Times Wire Reports

The state Senate voted 35 to 2 in Boston in favor of a bill to promote stem cell research, while outlawing human reproductive cloning and imposing a series of new regulations on the cutting-edge field.

The measure has generated intense lobbying on each side of the issue and now goes to the House, where opposition is expected to be stronger.

The debate comes as several other states, including California, are competing to attract and establish life sciences research centers.
