The Rolling Stones will play three stadium shows in California as part of a world tour that begins Aug. 21, including a Nov. 4 date at Angel Stadium in Anaheim.
Petco Park in San Diego (Nov. 11) and SBC Park in San Francisco (Nov. 13) are the other California shows, but more could be added, since the group plans to once again play arenas, theaters and clubs as well as stadiums (where some seats will be on the stage itself).
The group, which last toured in 2003, announced 35 dates Tuesday at a typically attention-getting media event in New York City, where Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Ron Wood and Charlie Watts played three songs on a balcony of the Juilliard School in Lincoln Center. The band will also release a new album with the tour.
Tickets for the Anaheim show will go on sale May 22, and pre-sale tickets will be available to American Express cardholders through Ticketmaster from 9 a.m. today through 5 p.m. May 21. Tickets for the tour opener in Boston’s Fenway Park and five other shows will go on sale Saturday.
