In the 1 1/2 years since it opened, architect Frank Gehry’s Walt Disney Concert Hall has become an icon for Los Angeles. Now the U.S. Postal Service will make the hall’s image even more widely available as one of a 12-stamp Masterworks of Modern Architecture series to go on sale Friday.
Disney Hall is part of a first-class commemorative stamp lineup that includes the Guggenheim Museum and the Chrysler Building in New York, the TWA Terminal at John F. Kennedy International Airport in the New York City area, the Glass House in New Canaan, Conn., and the National Gallery of Art in Washington, among other buildings dating from 1930 to 2003.
A First Day of Issue Ceremony for the series will be held Thursday in Las Vegas.
