Carlos Ruiz stunned D.C. United with a 12-yard bicycle kick early in the second half, then scored on a penalty kick seven minutes later to lead FC Dallas to a 2-0 victory Saturday night at Washington.
Ruiz, a former Galaxy forward, scored his sixth and seventh goals of the season as Western Conference leader Dallas (6-1-3) won its third straight and tied a franchise record by running its unbeaten streak to five.
Dallas’ defense caused United (3-4-2) to get shut out at RFK Stadium for the first time since June 12.
MetroStars 3, Columbus 0 -- Youri Djorkaeff, Eddie Gavin and Abbe Ibrahim scored goals at Columbus, Ohio, to help the MetroStars (3-3-3) rout the Crew (3-6-1), which has been shut out six times this season.
Chicago 3, Real Salt Lake 0 -- Chris Armas had a goal and an assist to lead the Fire (5-4-1) over Salt Lake (3-5-2) at Salt Lake City.
Kansas City 1, San Jose 0 -- Second-half substitute Jack Jewsbury scored in the 59th minute and goalkeeper Bo Oshoniyi made five saves to lead the Wizards (4-2-3) over the Earthquakes (3-3-4) at Kansas City, Mo.
Colorado 0, New England 0 -- The host Revolution (6-0-3) extended its unbeaten streak to nine games and the Rapids (2-7-2) had their road winless streak reach 13 in the game at Foxboro, Mass.
