Third-string quarterback Brady Leaf threw a four-yard touchdown pass to James Finley in overtime and No. 15 Oregon beat No. 23 California, 27-20, on Saturday at Eugene, Ore.

The Ducks (8-1, 5-1) played their first game without starter Kellen Clemens, who is out for the season because of a broken ankle. Dennis Dixon started, but it was Leaf who led Oregon to victory in a game played in constant rain and unpredictable winds.

California (6-3, 3-3) had a chance to win in regulation, but Tom Schneider missed a rushed, 53-yard field-goal attempt. The Golden Bears have lost three of their last four games.

The only loss for Oregon came against top-ranked USC on Sept. 24.

Leaf, the brother of former Washington State star Ryan Leaf, completed nine of 13 passes for 93 yards, and Dixon was 15 of 26 for 139 yards and a score with one interception.

Marshawn Lynch ran for 189 yards in 25 carries, but it wasn’t enough to carry the Bears.

Arizona State 27, Washington State 24 -- Rudy Carpenter threw for 381 yards and two touchdown passes and running back Rudy Burgess threw a touchdown pass as the Sun Devils (5-4, 3-3) held off the Cougars (3-6, 0-6) at Pullman, Wash.

Washington State’s Jerome Harrison ran for 240 yards in 38 carries and tied the Pac-10 record of 12 consecutive 100-yard games, set last year by California’s J.J. Arrington.

Oregon State 18, Washington 10 -- Yvenson Bernard ran for 122 yards in 35 carries and Alexis Serna tied a 21-year-old Pac-10 record with six field goals in windy and rainy conditions to lead the Beavers (5-4, 3-3) over the Huskies (1-8, 0-6) at Seattle.
