Morning-after pill as a morality problem

Your editorial was clear and informative. However, it seems to continue the confusion between religious issues and morality. You state clearly that the Food and Drug Administration decision [on an over-the-counter morning-after pill] “expressed more concern about the moral views of religious conservatives than the questions of health and science that are supposed to guide its decisions.” The decision certainly reflected religious views, but the last time I checked, we have not totally abdicated moral questions to any particular religious belief. Thus, what we have in this decision might be better described as “the moral equivalent of theocracy.”
