Train Collision Causes 3 Injuries, Evacuation
From Times Wire Reports
Two freight trains collided south of Chicago, injuring three crew members and forcing the evacuation of homes downwind of the tracks after flammable alcohol leaked from a tanker car, authorities said.
A Union Pacific train was headed to Little Rock, Ark., when it struck the Norfolk Southern train, headed to Pittsburgh, Pa., Union Pacific spokesman Mark Davis said.
Five locomotives and 45 train cars derailed, and the injuries to the three Union Pacific crew members were minor, Davis said.
