The news keeps getting better for the Clippers’ Zeljko Rebraca, who has been sidelined because of an irregular heartbeat.

The third-year center underwent several tests Saturday at Centinela-Freeman Medical Center in Inglewood. All the results were positive, including a normal EKG reading.

Rebraca was hospitalized after Wednesday’s home game against Toronto and released Thursday. He did not travel with the team to Denver for Friday’s game. He came by to watch the team’s practice Saturday but did not participate in any drills.

The news “was as good as it could be,” Coach Mike Dunleavy said. “There may be some more tests they have to run, or whatever, but so far it seems like everything is progressing.”

The team will still be cautious with Rebraca’s recovery and return, Dunleavy said. Right now there is no timetable for activating him.

“I guess after the next couple of days the doctors will tell me something,” Dunleavy said. “When he’s ready to play they will let me know.”

Regarding the possible return of injured second-year guard Shaun Livingston, Dunleavy would only say, “He’s close.”

Dunleavy was pleased that the team was dissatisfied with its level of play in Friday’s loss at Denver.

“I think in terms of our competitiveness and where we are, to say we know we had a bad game and we want to bounce back,” he said. “There are going to be nights in an 82-game schedule where you don’t play well. But you want it where if you lose it’s because teams beat you. You did the things you were supposed to, they were just better.

“In our case against Denver, we made mistakes, we didn’t execute well and shot ourselves in the foot trying to get back into the game.”

Said veteran guard Sam Cassell: “Last night we didn’t do anything good. We did a whole lot of things fair. And you don’t win games like that. So we didn’t deserve to win that ballgame.”
