Barry Boesch, 51; Was Executive Editor of Newspaper in Texas

Barry Boesch, 51, executive editor of the Denton Record-Chronicle in Denton, Texas, died Thursday of complications from a brain tumor.

The newspaper said Boesch died at a Dallas hospital, where he had been for three weeks while battling an infection. He was diagnosed with cancer in March and worked until the summer.

Boesch, a graduate of the University of Texas in Austin, spent much of his almost 30-year journalism career with the Dallas Morning News. He joined the Record-Chronicle as executive editor in 2001 and held the post until his death. The newspapers are owned by Belo Corp.

He began his career at the Corpus Christi Caller-Times in 1976 and joined the Morning News in 1977 as a general assignment reporter. He later held various other positions there.
