First Summit Since Gaza Pullout Is Postponed

Israel and the Palestinians postponed their first summit since Israel’s Gaza Strip pullout after preparatory talks failed to find a basis for its success.
Differences remained over Palestinian calls for Israel to release Palestinian prisoners and pull troops away from West Bank cities. Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas and Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon were to have met today.
