Voices raised against the storm

A double CD titled “Hurricane Relief: Come Together Now” will hit stores in mid-November. It pulls together a wide gallery of music stars contributing their voices for the benefit of victims of storms Katrina and Rita.

The tracks include concert performances by Coldplay (“Fix You”), Elton John (“I’m Still Standing”) James Brown (“Try Me”), John Fogerty (“Born on the Bayou”) and New Orleans-flavored songs by Sting (“Moon Over Bourbon Street”), Fats Domino (“Walking to New Orleans”) and Louis Armstrong (“Do You Know What It Means to Miss New Orleans”). The CD also includes the new Norah Jones and Wyclef Jean collaboration, “Any Other Day,” and “I Believe,” a previously unreleased track by Barbra Streisand.

Rod Stewart, Ozzy Osbourne, Mary J. Blige, Josh Groban, Andrea Bocelli and Robert Downey Jr. are among the singers swapping verses on Eric Clapton’s reinterpreted 1991 hit “Tears in Heaven,” while the band Velvet Revolver handles the music chores. The song is already available as a download on iTunes. Proceeds from U.S. sales will go toward Gulf Coast relief efforts while foreign sales will benefit victims of the tsunami in South Asia.
