Spike goes Jedi: Spike TV has picked up all six “Star Wars” movies, paying a fee of between $65 million and $70 million for the franchise, Daily Variety reported Wednesday.

Other networks have aired the first three movies, but Spike, which out-muscled USA Network, TBS and others in the deal, hopes to score big Nielsen numbers through promotions and marathons.

Hobbits team breaks up: Composer Howard Shore, who scored Peter Jackson’s “Lord of the Rings” trilogy, has dropped out of Jackson’s remake of the 1933 classic “King Kong,” turning the composing job over to James Newton Howard.

Jackson lauded Shore’s “immeasurable contributions” to his award-winning adaptation of J.R.R. Tolkien’s fantasy saga but said they had “differing creative aspirations.”

Honoring the “Godfather”: Bruce Willis, James Caan and others will pay homage to Al Pacino at the 20th annual American Cinematheque Award Show at the Beverly Hilton Hotel on Friday. AMC will broadcast the show Jan. 22.
