School Academic Reports Being Released Today

Share

The state Department of Education is releasing data today that will show whether California public schools met their academic growth goals for the 2004-05 school year. The data include results for subgroups of students based on race and socioeconomics; for the school to succeed, each group has to meet the target.

The Academic Performance Index growth reports are part of the state’s accountability system. Schools, including charters, are assigned a score from 200 to 1,000 based on their students’ performance on standardized tests in language arts, mathematics and other subjects. The schools are required to reach annual improvement targets as they strive for the state’s goal of 800.

The school-by-school results can be viewed on The Times’ website, www.latimes.com/schoolscores, after 10:30 a.m.
