Man Runs 52 Miles for Firefighting Charity
A former Alaska smokejumper for the U.S. Forest Service completed a 52-mile run Saturday through the Angeles National Forest to raise money for a foundation that helps families of those injured or killed while battling wildfires.
Kenneth Perry, 40, of Palmdale, who is an air tactical supervisor for the Bureau of Land Management, completed the course in about 10 hours, accompanied by Forest Service engine companies and fire crews.
The race began at the Fox Air Attack base and passed through six fire stations in the Antelope and Santa Clarita valleys. Proceeds will benefit the Wildland Firefighter Foundation.
