Jewish Group Raises Millions in Celebrity-Packed Telethon

The West Coast Chabad-Lubavitch organization was on pace Sunday to raise $6 million during its 25th annual “To Life Telethon,” which featured a celebrity-packed lineup of actors, athletes and politicians.
Leaders of the Jewish group said a portion of the telethon proceeds would be donated to Hurricane Katrina relief efforts.
Among those appearing at the telethon were Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, former Laker star Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and actor Lou Gossett Jr.
