Grandfather Dies, Boy Hurt After Car Hits Both

A 73-year-old man was struck by a car and killed Wednesday while crossing the street with a 4-year-old boy police believe was his grandson.
The child was taken to UCI Medical Center in Orange in serious condition. Neither of their names were released pending notification of relatives, police said.
The accident occurred about 4:20 p.m. when the pair were struck by a 1990 Ford Taurus while crossing 5th Street just east of Susan Street, said Lt. Paul Gonsalves, a spokesman for the Santa Ana Police Department.
