He Thinks They Won’t Succeed at First

While most Dodger fans applauded the release of Hee-Seop Choi, a quick comparison between Choi and his successor, Nomar Garciaparra, proves that Dodger management may have overlooked a few details.

Choi gets on base 35% of the time when he’s the starting first baseman. Projected over a full season, he was on pace last year to hit 27 home runs and is only due $750,000 in salary this year. Nomar gets on base equally as often as Choi, but his power is in decline, he’s the embodiment of the term “injury risk,” and the Dodgers are paying him roughly 10 times as much as Choi.

To me, replacing Choi with Nomar makes neither dollars nor sense for the Dodgers.
