A crew member for a private company that fights forest fires was arrested on suspicion of setting five blazes that caused an estimated $1 million in damage during the last two weeks, authorities said.

David Dillion, 24, of Redding was arrested Saturday after police found him standing in a bathrobe watching a fire that severely damaged a carport, according to Redding Fire Inspector Dean Herzberg.

Dillion is a suspect in four other blazes, one of them set Saturday and the other three March 18, Herzberg said.
