You won’t find her warming a bench

KENTUCKY-born Molly Sims used to turn heads as a model in Europe and New York, but it was only after dispensing with the high-fashion duds and getting down to some swimsuits in Sports Illustrated’s annual issue that her career really took off. A couple of years of acting lessons later, and she’s seemingly everywhere -- in movies (“The Benchwarmers,” which debuted at No. 2 last week) and TV (as James Caan’s daughter on NBC’s “Las Vegas”) plus fronting a cosmetics line for Cover Girl. But if you want to turn Molly’s head, give her a few days with nothing but fun on the agenda.

Food here and there

I love spending a weekend up at Gold Mountain Manor in Big Bear or at the Montage down in Laguna, but a lot of times it’s just nice to stay around home in L.A. So on Friday night, I might start off by going to dinner at a really charming little Italian place on Sunset called Il Sole. The food is absolutely amazing, and it’s got a little balcony and warm, friendly service. It’s also got some weird hours, so if you suddenly show up at 11 p.m. and want their great Robespierre salad, you know they’ll serve you. For dessert, I’d have tiramisu or the lemon sorbet.

After that, I might go to the Dime on Fairfax for a drink. It’s a low-key bar where you don’t feel out of place in jeans and a T-shirt, and sometimes there’s live music too. It would be a fun place to end the night.

Red-velvet cake

On Saturday morning I’d start with a sugar-free vanilla latte at Coffee Bean, and maybe a yoga class at Equinox. I also like hiking up around my neighborhood in the Hollywood Hills, like Runyon Canyon, or maybe Griffith Park, which is not as crowded as Runyon and has so many trails to choose from. Then I might come home and walk my two Yorkshire terriers, Chloe and Poupette. I know, don’t ask.

I’d go out to breakfast at Doughboys, which has the best red-velvet cake around, next to my mother’s. It’s like a deep-red three-layer cake with a little cocoa flavor in it, with cream-cheese icing. It’s the most delicious cake you’ve ever had in your entire life. I’d also have an omelet with spinach and mushrooms, and turkey sausage on the side.

I’d go shopping down on 3rd Street, which has great shops like Milk and Hillary Rush. Then I’d go back to the 14-foot tepee I have in my backyard for some reading. I’ve slept there, but it’s mainly like an outdoor living room.

I’d go to an early movie at the Vista in Silver Lake and then maybe the Cat & Fiddle on Sunset for a drink. For a late dinner, I’d go to Gyu-Kaku on La Cienega in Beverly Hills, where you sit around this grill and cook your own food. Tuna, steak, mushrooms, peppers, whatever you want, and very fun.

The art of it all

On Sunday I’d go look around at the Fairfax flea market and stop off at Matthew Heller’s art gallery. I’ve got two of his pieces, and I just love them. Then I’d rent a bunch of movies, go shopping for the week at Whole Foods and call it a weekend.
